Teaching Principles
(In the photo: Individual cards printed for one session.)
Problem types we work on
- Numerical (arithmetic, calculations, algebra, number theory, combinatorics)
- Logical (reasoning, making and verifying hypotheses, proofs)
- Spatial (geometry, symmetries, rotations, 3D)
Learning through solving, not listening
- Adults speak as little as possible. We introduce the topic and move straight to solving problems.
- Children work through individual cards, moving from simple to challenging. A new card is given only after the previous one is solved and checked. This lets students work at their own pace, but everyone works through the same sequence to cover the topic step-by-step.
- A high teacher-to-student ratio allows us to help individually when needed (+ sometimes parents help).
Interval learning
- We touch on new key principles several times during the year.
- We did not do this in 2025/26, but we are planning to start adding problems from previous topics into warm-ups.
Feedback to parents after each session
- After each session, we post an update in WhatsApp with a description of all activities, photos of the problem cards, and occasional photos from the session.
- We also share PDFs of the problems completed by at least one child, to discuss or solve at home (if there's time and interest).
